The Last Thing He Wanted 2020 full movie:
The Last Thing He Wanted is not horrible, but it commits one of the biggest offensives a film can make; it’s incredibly boring. I would much rather watch a so-bad-it’s-good film than one which is completely uninteresting. I honestly wanted to turn this film off, which is a shame with the talent involved.
Dee Rees has proven that she is capable of making great films, such as Mudbound, but all we got here was a generic film which added nothing new to the genre. Anne Hathaway, Ben Affleck, and Willem Defoe were all serviceable, but I have seen their acting much better than it was in this film and I was let-down with the fact that even actors I love couldn’t make this film interesting.
It didn’t help that the characters they played weren’t fleshed-out in the slightest and came across as one-dimensional cardboard cut-outs. I did like the cinematography and the musical score, but they weren’t enough to keep my attention focused.
The Last Thing He Wanted is not a train-wreck, but it has an uninteresting story that I wasn’t invested in and I would have much rather spent my time with something else. I can’t go extremely low with my score because it did have some redeeming qualities, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
